Let's jump in and try one!

2x - 5 is greater than or equal to 7

Hmm... Well, we know how to solve

2x - 5 = 7

Right?  Guess what?  We do it the same way!

(There's only one freaky thing you'll have to watch out for and it's in the next lesson)

Here we go:

2x - 5 is greater than or equal to 7, ditch the 5 by adding 5 to both sides which gives 2x is greater than or equal to 12, ditch the 2 by dividing both sides by 2 which gives x is greater than or equal to 6

OK, so what does this answer mean?

(It's super important in math to understand what your answers mean!)

We can graph it on a number line:

number line showing x is greater than or equal to 6

So, in our original problem,  2x - 5 is greater than or equal to 7  , x can be 6... or x can be a number bigger than 6.
