RULE # 2:

If it has two terms, it's probably one of the special guys.

Example:

9a^2 - 1

= ( 3a )^2 - 1 = ( 3a - 1 ) ( 3a + 1 )

Example:

2x^4 - 16x

= 2x ( x^3 - 8 ) = 2x ( x^3 - 2^3 ) = 2x ( x - 2 ) ( x^2 + 2x + 4 )

Example:

27w^3 + 1

= ( 3w )^3 + 1 = ( 3w + 1 ) ( 9w^2 - 3w + 1 )

RULE # 3:

If it has three terms and the coefficient on the squared guy is 1....

Then, it's a NIKE factor.

JUST DO IT!

Example:

y^2 + 8y + 7

= ( y + 1 ) ( y + 7 )
