For our list of Graphs to Know and Love, all shifting, reflecting and stretching works the same as it does for parabolas.

Let's review:

y = a ( x - h )^2 + k ... the a tells how tall and right-side-up or up-side-down ... the "- h" shift inside the ( ) with the x is horizontal shifts ... the "+ k" hanging off the end is the vertical shift
