Remember that a trinomial has three terms.

Like this guy:

x^2 - 3x - 10

Right now, we're really interested in a certain type of trinomial...

x^2 - 3x - 10 ... the x^2 is a squared guy, the -3x is a regular guy, and the -10 is a number guy

Remember FOIL?

We can multiply

( x - 5 ) ( x + 2 ) and get x^2 - 3x - 10

Hey -- that's our trinomial from above.

Basically, we'll be figuring out how to "undo" guys like

x^2 - 3x - 10

into their factors:

     ( x - 5 ) ( x + 2 )

You'll mostly be needing to know how to do this to solve equations like

x^2 - 3x - 10 = 0

(which we'll do later)
