What's the answer to this?

2+3=

Hopefully, the answer popped right into your head!

2+3=5

2 and 3 are positive numbers, aren't they?  And, in all the times that you've been adding these critters, did it ever occur to you that your answer wouldn't be a positive number?  No way!  Haha -- probably because you didn't know that there were any other kind of numbers.

Let's relook at this guy on a number line:

2+3=5

You add two positive numbers and the answer is positive.
