Here's a kind of problem that pops up a lot in Algebra:

127 - 2 ( 3 + 4 )^2

PEMDAS: Do P first... Then, do E... Then, do M... Then, do S

127 - 2 ( 3 + 4 )^2 = 127 - 2 ( 7 )^2 This is really 127 - 2 x 7^2 = 127 - 2 x 49 = 127 - 98 = 29
