Some decimals don't stop!  They go on and on forever in reruns -- just like The Brady Bunch!

Here are some examples:

7.3333333...
6.454545...
2.018888...
9.1234234234...

Remember that the little "dot dot dot" means it goes on forever!

To save time and space, we have a special notation for these.  We just write the repeating part once and put a bar over it.

Check it out:

7.3333333... = 7.3 with a repeating bar over the 3
6.454545... = 6.45 with a repeating bar over the 45
2.018888... = 2.018 with a repeating bar over the 8
9.1234234234... = 9.1234 with a repeating bar over the 234
