Before, we just looked at pictures to see if two fractions were equivalent... But, we need to be able to do it without pictures.

What about these?

1/2 and 400/800

I don't know about you, but I don't want to try to draw something with 800 pieces! Whew!

Let's take the fraction with the bigger numbers and reduce it:

Hey, they ARE the same!

In fact, we can find a bunch of fractions that are equivalent to these:

1/2 = 400/800 = 3/6 = 502/1004 = 9/18 = 25/50

Can you find five fractions
that are equivalent to 2/3?
(Remember, you can check your answers by reducing!)
