Want to get your hands on this stuff? Buy the book! Coolmath's Math Survivial Guide ... Here's another great Coolmath book: Coolmath Precalculus Review: What you really need for Calculus

"Great things are not done by impulse, but by a series of small things brought together."
-- Vincent Van Gogh

This is one of the reasons why it isn’t good to just get by with a “C” in a

math class.  With only “C” knowledge, you’re probably going to get mangled

in the next course.  You really do need to know it at an “A” or “B” level to do

well (or even survive) later.

Memorizing

I’m usually not a proponent of memorizing stuff in math.  You definitely

should not just try to memorize how to do a problem.  It’s best for you to

remember how to do the problem by understanding how the problem works.

But, there are some things you have to memorize – like your times tables

and the quadratic formula.  (By the way, if you still don’t know your times

tables, you are not alone.  Please download some free flash cards from

Coolmath4kids.com and learn those puppies!  You will be so much more

comfortable when you know them well.)   When there is real memorizing to be

done, I’m a huge fan of flash cards!  I used them all through my math classes

and they really helped.  One of the great things is that you can take them with

you everywhere you go.  Have to stand in line at the DMV?  Learn some math

while doing it!
