During my years of being a non-student, I would usually study for
tests...
in my own, special way. I’d glance over the
reading that I hadn’t done – maybe
do a little highlighting. I’d glance through
my homework (what little I had
done) and I’d glance through the lecture notes
(of the classes that I had
attended.) That should have been enough,
right? I would either put forth this
feeble effort or I would just decide to drop
the class right before a test so I
didn’t have to study at all! What a system!
This may come as a complete
surprise to you, but it didn’t work!
The truth is that I was just completely unmotivated. I had no idea
what
I wanted to do with my life, so I wasn’t
excited about anything. It’s hard to
keep driving when you don’t know your
destination.
So, when I found the wonderful world of math (haha, that sounds so
dorky), I got the motivation that I needed. I
had to get some study skills –
good study skills – asap. There were math
tests coming at me fast!
Between turning myself into a math machine and being a teacher for so
long, I’ve got this study thing down pat.
Follow these tips for math and your
other classes and you won’t be sorry!
