If you have a lung explode (this is a great excuse to miss a test, by
the way) right before test day, you
need to know the rules… Will you be allowed
to take a “make up” test? Will that missing
test score be replaced by your
final exam score? Does your teacher drop the
lowest test score? If you have
to be absent, do you need to contact your
teacher before the test? Do you
need a doctor’s note? Every teacher does
something different. It’s never
good to be surprised in situations like this!
The course syllabus should also explain the grading. I always like to
know what’s expected of me and what I need
to do to get a good grade.
So, take some time and read that thing. Then, you’ll always know what
to expect and there won’t be any unpleasant
surprises.
