So, you’re stuck taking a math class and having to learn stuff that you,
most likely, will never need. That’s right. I
said it. Stuff that you will never
need! Sure, math IS the language of science
and money. I’m not disputing
that. But, if you aren’t aiming for a career
in science or finance, then you will
probably never need this stuff. You’ll need
the compound interest that you’re
going to learn about in Algebra to help you
manage your own personal
finances, but other than that… nope! So, why
do you have to even take this
class?! I mean, it’s all SO unfair! This crud
is standing between you and your
dreams!
Well, everyone on the planet has decided that you need a certain amount
of math to get out of high school and that you
need a certain amount of math
to get a college degree. That’s the deal. Why
do you think this is the case?
Is it because you’ll need math for your job?
Probably not. So what is it? Why
do you have to take math?
Math trains you to
think…
and to figure things out.
OK, so you say you’ve heard THAT line before… and you’re not buying it.
