y = x^2 - x - 2 gives y = ( x^2 - x ___ ) - 2 ___ which gives y = ( x^2 - x + 1/4 ) - 2 - 1/4 which gives y = ( x - 1/2 )^2 - 9/4

Graph it. (I've got it below, but go ahead and try it yourself!)

Find the zeros:

x^2 - x - 2 = 0 gives ( x - 2 ) ( x + 1 ) = 0 which gives x - 2 = 0 or x + 1 = 0 which gives x = 2 or x = -1

Duuuude... These look great with our graph:
