We've got three methods for solving quadratics:

METHOD 1: Factoring

*Quick and easy IF something factors right away...
only for "math book" problems

Example:

Solve    7x^2 - 22x + 3 = 0

 

Factor: ( 7x - 1 ) ( x - 3 ) = 0 ... Blobs = 0 : 7x - 1 = 0 or x - 3 = 0 which gives 7x = 1 or x = 3 which gives x = 1/7 or x = 3

{ 1/7 , 3 }

TRY IT:

Solve  15x^2 + 26x + 8 = 0
