Rewrite it as cubes...

8w^3 + 1 = ( 2w )^3 + 1 = ( 2w + 1 ) ( ( 2w )^2 - ( 1 ) ( 2w ) + 1^2 ) = ( 2w + 1 ) ( 4w^2 - 2w + 1 )

Check it by multiplying!
