We've got a cool little trick called "FOIL" for multiplying two binomials like

( 2x + 3 )( x - 5 )

It's really just an easy way to do the distributive property twice -- which would be really messy and confusing to do.

Check it out:

( 2x + 3 )( x - 5 ) = 2x^2...

( 2x + 3 )( x - 5 ) = 2x^2 - 10x...

( 2x + 3 )( x - 5 ) = 2x^2 - 10x + 3x...

( 2x + 3 )( x - 5 ) = 2x^2 - 10x + 3x - 15 = 2x^2 - 7x -15

DONE!
