Hi, I'm Karen!
I have a
B.A. and M.S. in Mathematics and have 14 years of full-time
teaching experience at a community college. Over the
years, I've specialized in Algebra and
teacher training for K-8 math education. But, I
think my main specialty is motivating students. I've
spent a lot of time working on that aspect of learning.
I also have a background in graphic
design, computer programming and science.
So
far, all content, artwork, web design, etc. on the sites has been
done by me... Yep, I've turned out all 5000 or so pages of
content, graphics and web design. It's been a huge project
and there's still so much I want to get done... But,
I'm having a great time doing it!
Before I got
into math, I dabbled around with being a graphic designer. I didn't even like
math when I was in school. In fact, I hated it and thought
I was terrible at it! It wasn't until I had to take
math in college that I found out I was good at it AND that it
was FUN! I think this really gives me a unique view
of how to teach math and get students excited about learning.

Chief
Financial Officer
Phil graduated from
Shippensburg University in PA with a B.S. in Business
Admin./Accounting in 1979. He worked for Arthur Andersen &
Co until 1984 and became a CPA during his tenure there. Phil has
worked for a leading real estate developer ever since and is currently Chief
Financial Officer/Treasurer. He is a member of the AICPA
(American Institute of Certified Public Accountants) and the
California
Society of CPA's. He's also my brother-in-law and a
really great guy!
 
Personal

Tigger came to
Coolmath eight years ago with an extensive background in
meowing, cleaning himself and rubbing his face on stuff he
likes.
He was hired immediately.
Tigger now helps
in the development of new lessons for Coolmath... So,
if you find a mistake, it's HIS fault! Hey, he's a cat
